Simple Spring Capsule Wardrobe 2024

Spring is finally here and with that comes my spring capsule wardrobe 2024 edition! I’m so excited to dive into light colors, play with textures, and of course patterns! Building a spring capsule wardrobe is totally attainable, even on a budget. I’m sharing all my tips for creating a perfect spring capsule wardrobe for women.

Building a Spring Capsule Wardrobe

When starting to build a capsule, I think about 3 things: the weather, a color palette, and events I have going on. Weather is unavoidable and something that isn’t too hard to think of when it’s summer or winter. But spring and fall are more difficult when it comes to weather because the weather can change so fast. One minute, it’s 70 and full sun and the next minute it’s snowing. I know that my spring capsule wardrobe needs to be able to handle anything the weather throws around.

The next thing to think about when building a spring capsule wardrobe is a color palette. I start with my favorite neutrals for the season so white and tan are my main neutrals with hints of black because black is life. Then I think about what colors I want to wear that fit the season. Blue is such a spring color and one that is totally in this year. Another thing to think about when it comes to color palettes is patterns. Usually, I don’t wear many patterns but I wanted to incorporate some into this wardrobe. I picked a classic spring capsule wardrobe must-have, a blue-striped button-down. I also picked a pretty patterned dress and a rainbow sweater that I just felt like I needed to include.

The last thing to consider when building a spring capsule wardrobe is what events you have going on this season. I know that for spring I have some celebrations such as my birthday, easter, and graduation. I also know that I will still be going to work and having fun on the weekends. These events helped me see that my capsule needs to be casual for work/weekends while still having a few outfits for events.

When building a spring capsule wardrobe, there are always basics that need to be included. My spring capsule wardrobe essentials include a long-sleeve tee, a short-sleeve tee, jeans, a trench coat, and a pair of rain boots. These are pieces that match the season, my color palette, and the casual events that I mostly have. Your spring capsule wardrobe essentials could include suit pieces, sneakers, or a favorite dress. Finding your personal style can really help with this step of the capsule wardrobe process. I know that I’m a jeans and tee girl so my capsule wardrobes lean into that style quite a bit.

Classic Spring Capsule Wardrobe Tops

Cream Sweater: Because spring is still fairly cool, I knew that I needed a sweater. This one is lightweight and neutral making it a great capsule piece.

Striped Button Down: This is one of those pieces that when I think of spring wardrobes, I think of this classic spring capsule wardrobe top. It’s perfect for work, which is one of my main events this spring.

Black Tee Shirt: Black is my. favorite neutral and I wanted to initially try to make a capsule without black but I just couldn’t do it.

White Long Sleeve: Similar to the black tee, a white long sleeve was a must. This one is made of organic material which I love!

Colorful Sweater: Every time I make a capsule, I throw in a ‘random’ piece that just makes me happy. I knew I needed another sweater for weather purposes but I wanted to have something with either color or pattern. This one has both bright colors and stripes so it’s perfect!

Spring Dressses & Pants

Pattern Dress: This dress will be perfect for the handful of events that I have this spring. The blue and white pattern works perfectly with the spring color palette that I chose for the season.

Black Tee Shirt Dress: I’m pretty sure this dress is in every capsule wardrobe. It works well to teach in and can be dressed up for more casual events.

White Jeans: white jeans are the ultimate spring capsule wardrobe 2024 must-have. These ones are distressed but if you work in a more conservative business casual space, then choose a pair without holes.

Light Jeans: Jeans are a must-have for me and this pair made it into my late summer capsule wardrobe too. They are versatile and I can wear them to work.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe 2024 Layers

Trench Coat: Spring is all about rain so I knew that I needed a trench coat to handle the weather. This one is actually rented from Nuuly but this one is a much more affordable option.

Denim Jacket: To handle the cooler mornings that spring brings, I wear this jacket probably every morning.

Spring Shoes & Accessories

Rain boots: A spring must-have but make it cute. These light grey rain boots were perfect for my Alaskan Cruise so I know they will handle spring just fine.

Two-Tone Pumps: These shoes are just so cute and are a great addition to help dress up some outfits.

White Keds: Because I’m such a jeans and tees type girl, I need a pair of sneakers. Remember to make your capsule work for you and your lifestyle.

Leather Tote: Usually I have a few different purses in my capsule but for my spring capsule wardrobe 2024, I’m challenging myself to only one.
