Oh capsule wardrobes, how I love thee! I love the simplicity of a small, mix and match wardrobe and use one year round for the sake of ease. I never have to worry about things matching or how I feel in certain pieces because every item is one I love.
Now capsule wardrobes don’t just magically appear overnight, but I will walk you through the steps of creating your own a few weeks!
This holiday capsule is bite size, simply 4 pieces that mix snd match to create 4 different outfits. I know that this year will look way different when it comes to the festive holiday season, but these are work from home, grocery store fashionista approved.
For the pieces, I wanted a couple basics like a black body suit and a cozy sweater. Basics are what capsules are made of, so it made sense to include a few. I also wanted a dress because no matter the cut/style, I feel more dressed up in a dress. And lastly, I wanted to include these silky joggers as a statement piece. 2 basics + 1 versatile piece + 1 statement piece = 4 outfits!
Look 1: Casual Party Animal
bodysuit // joggers similar here // leopard flats similar here // necklace similar here
Why this Works: pairing 2 different silhouettes (tight on top + loose on bottom) gives you shape while not showing off too much. I typically wear this silhouette in reverse (think skinny jeans and over sized tops) and this one works the same way. Dress it up with a fun pair of flats and a necklace to complete the look.
Perfect for: Game Nights & Dinners In
Look 2: Shades of Neutrals
bodysuit // dress, denim side // grey tights // brown booties
Why this Works: By layering the body suit under the dress, you earn some warmth while keeping your dress front and center. Add in a pair of booties to elevate the style. Who said neutrals were boring?
Perfect for: Drive Through Parties & Dropping off Cookies
Look 3: All Dressed Up
sweater // dress, denim side // black tights // black booties similar here
Why this Works: This hack is one of my faves to expand your wardrobe! Tricking the eye into believing your skirt & sweater combo is ease if you have a belt. Simply tighten the belt at your waist, tuck in the hem of the sweater and adjust top to hide the belt. The aline skirt is universally flattering and the sweater keeps it cozy.
Perfect for: Family Dinners & Socially Distanced Church
Look 4: WFH Approved
sweater // joggers similar here // grey flats similar here // headband
Why this Works: Comfort is the name of the game this year and this outfit hits just right!A looser sweater and joggers could look frumpy but with the addition of the front tuck, you gain a waist without anything tight. Add a bit of color with a festive headband and a bold lip. Zoom approved.
Perfect for: Zoom & Grocery Runs
